About the Artist

Jürgen Ellensohn completed his studies under Prof. Lothar Hilbrand at the Vorarlberg State Conservatory and Prof. Hans Gansch at the Mozarteum University Salzburg, graduating with distinction in both programs. His first position as principal trumpet took him to the Bern Symphony Orchestra in 2003. From 2005 to 2020, Jürgen Ellensohn held the same position at the Frankfurt Radio Symphony / hr-Sinfonieorchester. Alongside his orchestral work, he served as a professor at the Vorarlberg State Conservatory from 2015 to 2019, having previously taught as a lecturer at the University of the Arts Bern and as a visiting lecturer at the Frankfurt/Main and Mainz Music Universities. In the winter semester of 2019/20, Jürgen Ellensohn was appointed professor of trumpet at the Würzburg University of Music. Since 2022, he has also been a professor at the Stella Vorarlberg Private Music University. In 2014, he completed his studies as an Academic Mental Coach at the University of Salzburg, sharing this knowledge with numerous musicians over the years, including serving as the mental coach for the orchestra academy of the Frankfurt Radio Symphony until 2019 and conducting numerous workshops in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and Italy. As a soloist, he has performed with a variety of significant orchestras, appearing in many countries and at various festivals, working with conductors such as Kirill Petrenko, Andrés Orozco-Estrada, and Matthias Pintscher. He is passionately devoted to chamber music, being a member of groups such as Pro Brass, The Philharmonic Brass, and Martin Grubinger & The Percussive Planet Ensemble.
