The silk baritone saxophone swab is specially designed to clean the circular part of the E-flat baritone saxophone body (snail) after each playing session. This swab was developed to keep this area clean and prevent the build-up of dirt.
It is a foam-covered flexible snake, 24 inches (60 cm) long and the diameter of the bore of the circular section of the saxophone, with a silk covering that quickly absorbs accumulated water. This swab is pushed into the top of the saxophone and around the loop, then pulled out to remove moisture. The neck is cleaned in a similar manner.
