Product details
The Francois Louis ligature features a well-thought-out design that specifically optimizes tone and response. The single-screw design ensures even pressure distribution across the reed. This allows the reed to vibrate freely and fully develop its natural resonance without interfering with the mouthpiece’s vibration.
Crafted from high-quality materials, this reed screw offers different tonal characteristics depending on the version. The brass version is characterized by a particularly lively resonance and high vibrational response, giving the sound more brilliance and presence. The silver-plated version, on the other hand, offers increased durability and produces a darker, more compact tone with greater depth.
Suitable for rubber mouthpieces (such as Selmer, Vandoren, Meyer, Otto Link, etc.)
François Louis, born in Brussels in 1954, began his journey in musical instrument making after gaining experience in fluid mechanics as a motorbike competition mechanic. He quickly gained recognition for his modifications to saxophone mouthpieces, attracting interest from renowned musicians like Joe Lovano. Over the years, he patented new mouthpiece designs, expanded his workshop globally, and collaborated with esteemed musicians. François also ventured into teaching master classes and innovated ligature designs. Notably, he embarked on a collaboration with composer Philippe Boesmans for a saxophone prototype project. In 2003, François Louis furthered his innovations, including the modelisation of the Aulochrome and the development of new reed concepts for saxophones and clarinets.
