Simon Bales

About the Artist

Simon Bales studied trumpet in Mannheim with Prof. Günther Beetz, where he completed his intermediate diploma. He then moved to Basel and Frankfurt am Main, where he completed his studies under Prof. Klaus Schuhwerk with a diploma in orchestral music with distinction. During his studies, he gained orchestral experience at the Staatstheater Braunschweig and the Staatstheater Hannover before taking up a temporary contract at the Staatstheater Meiningen. He has been deputy principal trumpet in the Aachen Symphony Orchestra since 2012. Since then, he has been a regular guest with renowned orchestras such as the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne, the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn and the WDR Funkhaus Orchestra Cologne. In 2021, Simon Bales received a teaching position at the University of Music and Dance Cologne in Aachen, where he teaches his own trumpet class. He has been playing Schagerl trumpets for over 25 years and is absolutely convinced by the sound, response and workmanship of the instruments.
