Guillaume
Jehl began playing the trumpet at the age of eight. He completed his studies at
the Conservatory in Mulhouse and at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de
Musique et de Danse in Paris with distinction. Furthermore, he studied Baroque
trumpet at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, where he is also active as a
pedagogue at its Music Academy, and perfected his trumpet playing with Johann
Gansch at the University "Mozarteum" in Salzburg. In 1998, at the age
of 20, he received his first engagement as 2nd trumpeter in the Orchestre
National de Bordeaux Aquitaine, and two years later, he played in the same
position in the Orchestre National de France. In 2001, Guillaume Jehl became
the principal trumpeter in the Basel Symphony Orchestra. In 2006, he returned
as principal trumpeter to the Orchestre National de France, before joining the
Berlin Philharmonic in 2009. Since the 2018/2019 season, he has been the
principal trumpeter of the orchestra. Besides his orchestral work, Guillaume
Jehl performs as a soloist and chamber musician and is involved in the brass
ensemble of the Berlin Philharmonic.
