Simon Zöchbauer about the new Spyder

As I am musically involved in both classical music and improvised music, I spent a long time looking for the right instrument to combine both aspects.
When I tried the Spyder, I was thrilled right from the start. I had to get used to the position and the way the fingers travelled to the valves at first, but once I had got used to it, I didn't want to play any other instrument. It was important to me to have a trumpet that I could play as much as possible and that I could use in my ensemble Federspiel as well as in my solo project with string quartet and trumpet. The Spyder fulfils this flexibility: I can fill large concert halls like the KKL Lucerne with it, but even when I play with a string quartet in a church, it blends into the fine overall sound.
The intonation is very good (which is usual with Schagerl anyway) and the registers are very balanced from bottom to top. A great, flexible instrument, perfect for solo use.
Thank you! Simon Zöchbauer
