Manuel Mischel about his Schagerl B- and C-Trumpet Models

Schagerl C-Trp - Berlin:
‘The Berlin C trumpet is definitely a stroke of luck for me. It has a balanced sound in all registers and is always a great pleasure to play in an orchestra. Loud and soft, lyrical or rustic, this instrument is a driving force in the orchestra. The romantic repertoire in particular is incredibly fun to play with this instrument.’
Schagerl Bb trumpet - Berlin:
‘My Berlin Bb trumpet is a rather light one. I mainly need this trumpet for solo and ensemble concerts. The response is on point and you have incredible flexibility. The high register is easy to reach and the round tone helps you blend well with your colleagues.’
About Manuel:
Manuel Mischel has been Coordinating Principal Trumpet of the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra since 2017.
Born in Uelzen in 1992, trumpeter Manuel Mischel received his first trumpet lessons at the age of eight in his local trombone choir. After studying with Prof. Matthias Höfs at the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre, he went on to study for a Bachelor's degree.
Manuel gained orchestral experience at a young age in the state youth orchestras of Lower Saxony and Bremen, the Lower Saxony State Youth Wind Orchestra, the Federal Youth Orchestra, the Young North German Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival in the Orchestra Academy and the Zermatt Music Festival.
Following his orchestral internship with the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, he worked as a solo trumpet player with the Lübeck Philharmonic Orchestra and the Kiel Philharmonic Orchestra. Manuel is a scholarship holder of the Karajan Academy with the Berliner Philharmoniker in the 2016/2017 season, where he receives lessons from Tamás Velenczei and Martin Kretzer. However, Manuel leaves the Karajan Academy early to take up his position with the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra.
Manuel plays as a guest in orchestras such as the NDR Elbphilharmonieorchester, the Hamburg State Opera, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and the Berlin Philharmonic.
In addition to his orchestral work, Manuel is also active as a soloist and chamber musician, and he particularly enjoys playing in a brass quintet. In 2019, he founded the ‘SpiriladoBrass’ quintet together with former colleagues from the Berliner Philharmoniker's Karajan Academy.
Manuel has won several prizes in various competitions, including first prize in the Elise Meyer Foundation competition in Hamburg, national prize in the ‘Jugend musiziert’ competition and first prize in the international brass competition for the European city of Passau.
Manuel is also a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation.
