Jürgen Ellensohn about his Schagerl Instruments

How long have you been playing Schagerl trumpets?
I bought my first Schagerl trumpet in 2001 with the W 2001.
How did you come to Schagerl?
At the time, I was studying with Hans Gansch at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. So it was only natural that I should also try out Schagerl instruments.
Why do you play Schagerl trumpets?
When I started playing Schagerl instruments, I realised that they had a special sound for me and also gave me the opportunity to make music freely. Over the years, a friendship has developed with the various Schagerl employees. That's why it's particularly important to me to play the instruments.
Which instruments do you use?
I still have the W 2001 Bb trumpet. Of course, I also have another Bb trumpet, the Berlin Heavy.
In the orchestra, I mainly play the Hörsdorf Heavy C trumpet. I also have an Aglea Perinet Bb trumpet.
I was happy to pass on instruments such as the Hans Gansch, Hörsdorf heavy Bb trumpets or Hörsdorf C trumpet to my students.
Who has influenced you in your career?
Of course, my two teachers Lothar Hilbrand and Hans Gansch had a huge influence on me. Hans' concept of sound in particular is still the benchmark for my daily work today.
Where do you currently play or teach?
I've been principal trumpet in the hr-Sinfonieorchester / Frankfurt Radio Symphony since 2005, a member of Pro Brass and a regular substitute in many other orchestras. I've been a professor at the Würzburg University of Music since 2019.
