Jonas Huck - Schagerl Artist

When did you start playing Schagerl trumpets?
My first Schagerl trumpet was my first German C trumpet, a Hörsdorf Heavy. At the beginning of my studies I had a very old Monke Bb trumpet from the 80s, which I then replaced with a Wien Heavy at the start of the auditions. I still play it today and now I also have a Wien C trumpet.
How did you come to Schagerl?
When you're not really familiar with trumpets, you try out a lot. Since fellow students like Matthias Kowalczyk also played Schagerl back then, I naturally tried them out too. The Bb trumpet is still the best trumpet for me today and switching to the same C trumpet makes the set perfect for me.
Who has influenced you in your career?
Holger Bronner, principal trumpet of the Baden-Baden Philharmonic Orchestra, was the most important influence early on. He influenced me right up to my studies and still does today.
I studied with Klaus Schuhwerk, which was a real stroke of luck for me. He takes people by the hand, gives them time and manages to get the best out of his students with his calm but consistent manner.
