Congratulations to Schagerl Artist Selina Jasmin Ott on winning 1st prize in the ARD International Music Competition 2018!
Biography
Selina Ott was born in 1998. From 2011 to 2016, she attended the highly gifted course/preparatory course with Prof. Mag.art. Martin Mühlfellner at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna.
In the 2015/16 school year, she was also a junior student at the Karlsruhe University of Music with Prof. Reinhold Friedrich. Since October 2016, she has been studying concert trumpet in the class of Roman Rindberger at the Music and Arts Private University of the City of Vienna.
Master classes with Gabor Tarkövi, Jens Lindemann, Kristian Steenstrup, Allen Vizzutti, Bo Nilsson, Prof. Hans Gansch, Guillaume Couloumy and Prof. Klaus Schuhwerk complement her studies.
In her still young career, Selina Ott has already won numerous prizes and awards. She is an eight-time first prize winner at prima la musica in the solo trumpet category at state and national level.
At the age of eleven, she performed as a soloist at the gala concert of the European Brass Band Championships with the Austrian Youth Brass Band at the Brucknerhaus Linz, impressing the audience of experts from all over Europe with her performance.
She has also performed as a soloist with the Brass Band Upper Austria, the Upper Austrian Youth Brass Band, the Brass Band Noricum, the Lower Austrian Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Franz Schmidt Chamber Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra of the Karlsruhe University of Music and the mdw Chamber Orchestra.
Substitute with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and the Vienna Volksoper Symphony Orchestra.
Member of the Max Steiner Orchestra, Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Vienna Synchron Stage Orchestra and Vienna Jeunesse Orchestra.
After winning an audition with Musica Juventutis in November 2014, Selina performed at a solo recital in the Schubert Hall of the Vienna Konzerthaus in April 2015.
In October 2015, she was invited by Reinhold Friedrich to take part in the Weingartner Musiktage junger Künstler, where she played a concert together with harpist Alisa Sadikova.
In April 2017, Selina won first prize at the LIONS Music Prize 2017 and thus qualified to represent Austria at the European Lions Music Competition as part of the 63rd Europe Forum (meeting of the European LIONS) in Montreux, where she made it to the final.
In 2018, at the age of 20, Selina became the first woman to win the ARD music competition in the trumpet category.
