Apredato

We are proud to continuously offer innovative solutions in the field of instrument making. Our company, in close collaboration with Prof. Hans Gansch and Thorsten Benkenstein (NDR Big Band), has developed a pioneering mouthpiece named "Apredato."

"The Magic of the Element"

Our inspiration for developing this mouthpiece came from the need of many trumpeters to deepen the sound of their instruments without having to give up their familiar mouthpieces.

The design of the "Apredato" might appear massive at first glance and remind one of mouthpieces from other manufacturers pursuing similar goals. However, unlike those mouthpieces, the "Apredato" is easy to play and offers a surprisingly comfortable playing experience. The secret behind this lies in the use of water as a material, which is lighter than the usual mouthpiece metal alloy but still allows for the variation of the mouthpiece weight.

In our workshops in Mank, we worked intensively on the implementation until the final version of the "Apredato" was created. This mouthpiece consists of a conventional mouthpiece, from which the majority of the outer mass has been removed. The characteristic casing of the "Apredato" is filled with water and secured with a grub screw. The inner coating of the casing serves to prevent corrosion and is carefully sealed with rubber.

Dark and carrying

The sound of the "Apredato" is even darker and more carrying compared to a conventional mouthpiece of the same size. It excels in both big bands and symphonic settings. We are particularly proud of the special "Apredato" TB model, which was developed specifically for lead trumpeters by Thorsten Benkenstein.

Our mouthpieces are available in all standard sizes directly at Schagerl Music House, and we also offer the option to convert existing mouthpieces into an "Apredato" without compromising the response and clarity of the tone.

Schagerl Apredato 15E4

The Schagerl 15E4 Apredato offers several advantages over the standard 15E4.

A big surprise and new experience for me was the Apredato version of my mouthpiece, "Yamaha 15E4." The mouthpiece, familiar to me for so long, was hard to recognize due to the many new playing characteristics. I have long searched for a real alternative that aligns even more with my own playing feel and the associated tone conception – unfortunately, without success.

The Apredato modification of my mouthpiece, with its better tone core and improved response, has convinced not only myself but also my colleagues in the orchestra pit and on stage. The more stable air guidance and pleasant resistance significantly enrich the overtone spectrum in every dynamic and improve the "locking in" of the notes. Especially on the rotary valve trumpet, the higher weight of the mouthpiece is noticeable – in a positive way! It provides a counterbalance to the otherwise front-heavy trumpets, resulting in more balance in holding and at the lips.
