About the Artist

Thomas Gansch was born on December 31, 1975 in St. Pölten and grew up in Melk on the Danube, where he learned to play the trumpet from his father, Johann Gansch.

At the age of 15, he moved to Vienna to study concert trumpet at the University of Music and Performing Arts. During his studies in 1992, he co-founded the group Mnozil Brass with fellow students. After six years in the classical music field, Gansch decided in 1997 to complete his studies and dedicate himself to his great passion, jazz. From 1998 to 2006, he was a member of the legendary Vienna Art Orchestra, which he still considers his "true" study time. In addition to numerous collaborations with musicians from around the world and performances in almost 50 countries, he also composes for various other ensembles besides Mnozil Brass.

Thomas Gansch is not only one of the most versatile trumpeters of his generation but also an entertainer through and through. Although he always has a mischievous twinkle in his eye, he never loses sight of the music.
