Lorenz Raab

About the Artist

Lorenz Raab was born in Linz in 1975 and studied at the former Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts, the Bremen Trumpet Academy and the Mozarteum in Salzburg. He won prizes at the "Jugend musiziert" competition, the Yamaha woodwind and brass competition in 1991 and the International Trumpet Days in Bremen in 1998 and was awarded the Hans Koller Prize several times. He played in the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra and was a member of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra under Claudio Abbado and Daniel Harding. From 2000-2003 he was deputy principal trumpet in the Bremen Philharmonic State Orchestra. State Orchestra Bremen. He has been principal trumpet at the Vienna Volksoper since September 2003, has been a member of the Pro Brass ensemble since 1999 and has been a senior lecturer in classical music/technique in the central artistic subject of trumpet jazz at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz since 2014.
