"G.Verdi" He has been the 1st Solo Trombonist in the Orchestra
Sinfonica in Milano since 1995.
1997 to 2001, he was the 1st Trombonist in the Orchester dell'Accademia di
Santa Cecilia in Rome. Tours have taken him to Japan, North Africa, Russia,
Europe, the USA, South America, China, Korea, and the Canary Islands, with
recordings for DECCA, EMI, Deutsche Grammophon, Sony, and BMG Ricordi.
Additional courses with Prof.Vinko Globokar in 1992 in Paris, as well as master
classes at the Scuola di Musica in Fiesole, deepened his study of New Music,
leading to numerous premieres for his instrument, including compositions by
Berio, Cage, Manzoni, Vacchi, and Lindberg. In 1992, he won the 1st Prize at
the International Competition for New Music in Stresa with works by V.Globokar
and Y.Xenakis. He has played as a guest 1st Trombonist with the most important
Italian orchestras, including the "Teatro e Filarmonica della Scala"
in Milan, under the world's most renowned conductors. His activities include
solo performances and concerts in various chamber music formations such as
"Gli Ottoni del Teatro alla Scala". As a soloist, he recorded two
CDs, Vib Bone and Vib Bone News, in 2002 and 2008 for the labels "L
Eubage" and "RCR -Prokultura". In 2012, he recorded Nino Rota's
Concerto for Trombone and Orchestra with the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano
under the direction of Giuseppe Grazioli for DECCA. With the same orchestra, he
also performed solo concerts by F.David, L.Mozart, N.Schilkret, and L.Berio.
Since 2004, he has been giving numerous master classes for trombone at Italian
conservatories and various festivals. Since 2009, he has been a lecturer for
trombone at the Conservatory in Milan, the "L.Marenzio" Conservatory
in Darfo Boario Terme, and the "L.Canepa" Conservatory in Sassari. In
June 2017, he performed the Italian premiere of the Concerto for Trombone and
Orchestra "The Return of Kit Bone" by F.Hogberg with the Orchestra
Sinfonica di Milano under the direction of J.Bignamini.
