About the Artist

Gerhard Füssl, a trombonist and music teacher, was born in 1968 in Mondsee in the Upper Austrian region of Salzkammergut. He grew up in Oberhofen on the Irrsee and completed his high school diploma at BORG Neumarkt am Wallersee. His father Franz, who was the bandmaster of the traditional music band of Oberhofen for 17 years, taught him the tenor horn and trombone.

From 1988 to 1994, Gerhard Füssl studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna under Horst Küblböck, focusing on trombone as a concert subject and instrumental pedagogy. During his studies, he played in various orchestras such as the Vienna Symphony, Camerata Academica, Vienna Volksoper, and others. Until 1994, he was a member of the Vienna Trombone Ensemble and from 1992 to 2000, he played with the group "Die Tanzgeiger," with whom he also released a recording.

As a member of the brass ensemble Mnozil Brass, Gerhard Füssl gained international fame. Since 1992, he has been a founding member and has participated in numerous tours in over 50 countries around the world.

Starting in 1995, Füssl taught at the Upper Austrian Regional Music School and at the Salzburg Music School. From 1998 to 2002, he was the branch manager of the music school in Straßwalchen. In 2002, Füssl received a teaching assignment for Cross Over and new folk music at the Mozarteum Salzburg. Additionally, he is a sought-after speaker in workshops and leads the "Brass & Percussion" ensemble of the traditional music band Neumarkt am Wallersee.
