Emil Haderer is one of the most renowned Austrian trombonists of his generation. Born in Austria and raised in Pabneukirchen in Upper Austria, he began his musical training at the Perg Regional Music School and continued his studies at the Bruckner University in Linz under Prof. Josef Kürner.
Emil Haderer attracted attention from an early age with his outstanding success in competitions. He received several awards at ‘prima la musica’ and won the prestigious ‘Gradus ad Parnassum’ competition in 2004.
In 2005, at the age of just 25, he was appointed principal trombonist of the NDR Radio Philharmonic Orchestra. Prior to this, he had worked as a teacher of trombone and tenor horn at the Linz Music School.
As a soloist, Emil Haderer has performed with, amongst others, the Bruckner Orchestra Linz and the Sinfonietta Vorarlberg. He has also made guest appearances with many renowned orchestras, including the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden.
Since 2024, Emil Haderer has been a member of German Brass, one of the world’s best-known and most successful brass ensembles.
Alongside his role with the NDR Radio Philharmonic, Emil Haderer is active in various ensembles, including NDR Philharmonic Brass, Arte Ensemble, MACH7 and Mühlviertler Birnblech. He also regularly performs in the NDR Radio Philharmonic’s chamber music series. As an internationally sought-after lecturer for masterclasses, his teaching career has taken him not only to Austria and Germany but also to America, China and Japan.
With his international concert career, his teaching work and his involvement in leading orchestras and ensembles, Emil Haderer is today one of the leading figures on the European trombone scene.
