The Ganschhorn was created in 2012 at the request of Thomas Gansch. He desired the playing and tonal qualities of a rotary valve trumpet, but with the easier handling of a piston trumpet. It was important for Thomas that this trumpet could be played easily with one hand, enabling him to play with the greatest possible freedom on the stages of the world. The iconic curved bell also permits his sound (in big band settings) to project,  directly over the music stand, out to the audience.

On the occasion of our 60th company anniversary in 2021, our two Ganschhorn Models (Standard-weight and Heavy-weight ) underwent a thorough update. For example, small improvements were made to the lead pipes, which permit even more stable intonation and more precise and direct response in all registers.

All our instruments are built following traditional craftsmanship, yet utilizing the most modern tools, and therefore with the utmost accuracy and precision. Every instrument is subject to strict quality control before it leaves our workshop.

With this concept, the Schagerl company remains true to its motto: “In Quality we trust!”
