Gileno Santana is nowadays one of the most versatile and talented trumpeter from Portugal. He is lead trumpeter in the Orquestra de Jazz de Matosinhos. During his career he had the chance to play together with many different Musicians like Maria Schneider, João Paulo Esteves da Silva, Jim McNeely, Mark Turner, Steve Swallow, Carla Bley, Chris Cheek, Tommy Riley, Ohad Talmor, Andy Sheppard, Maria Rita, Lee Konitz, Maria John, Kurt Rosenwinkel.

He worked together with Tony Allen, Amp Fiddler, Hilaire Penda, Munir Hossn, SérgioCarolino, Andrea Lombardini, Paolo Porta, Tommaso Cappellato, Alessandro Paternesi, James Morrison, Hermeto Pascoal.

This year he recorded his first CD “Ignacio” with his band, featuring Hamilton de Holanda.

Gileno Santana is also an amazing arranger and Musician. He is teaching at Escola de Jazz do Porto and Academia Breyner.

The Spyder is my primary tool for soloist and small group work. Its sound and projection is perfect for one-trumpet ensembles, like chamber music, small jazz groups, and recording sessions. The intonation is excellent, the tone is warm and consistent, and the looks are as unique as the music I hope to play on it.
